Almost 50 scholarship holders of the Deutschlandstipendium visited the Berger Gruppe in Kohlfurth to learn more about the "Bergisch Flood Warning System 4.0".

On April 26, the Berger Gruppe invited scholarship holders of the Deutschlandstipendium from the University of Wuppertal to a presentation on the "Bergisch Flood Warning System 4.0".

In an entertaining presentation, Dr. Andreas Groß, Managing Director of the Berger Gruppe, introduced the project he initiated. Together with Wupperverband, IHK, Bergisches Städtedreieck and IZMD, the Berger Gruppe developed an early warning system that makes it possible to measure the water level of the Wupper via ultrasonic sensor, discharge volume and precipitation volume measurement and to calculate the local water level heights in a complex software for several hours in advance.

This is where Industry 4.0 technology comes into play, which has been used in the field of robotics by the company in Kohlfurth for years.

After the lecture, the students had the opportunity to see a robotic cell for grinding machine knives in operation on site and to exchange ideas with the management at a subsequent barbecue evening.

After two years of pandemic, Annika Grübler, head of the Deutschlandstipendium office at the University of Wuppertal, was pleased that the event could take place in the presence of 50 participants on site and 20 students connected online.
