Resource-saving work

For the Berger Gruppe, the term "sustainability" has had a special meaning, and not just since the climate debate.

The company lives sustainability in an ecological, economic and social sense. Our commitment is therefore based on the following three fundamental pillars:

• resource-conserving work through
  • reducing fuel consumption by purchasing electric cars and 26 wallboxes for company cars and employees' cars
  • replacing 1600 disposable spray cans with 240 refill cans every year
  • reuse of cardboard packaging
  • switch to LED lamps, dimmers and motion detectors for lower energy consumption
     
• creating energy
  • by building the fourth largest photovoltaic system in the Bergisches Land region
  • 1800 panels on approx. 5000 m²
  • 700 kWp total output
  • 40% of the electricity generated covers 48% of own requirements
  • avoided CO2 emissions: approx. 320 tons/year
     
• investing in the education and training of future generations by
  • training 13 to 17 apprentices over three and a half years
  • 40 work placements for school pupils per year
  • 20 mechanical and electrical engineering internships for students per year
  • 2 annual scholarships for electrical engineering and mechanical engineering students
  • robotics courses for pupils
  • lectures in the field of special mechanical engineering at the University of Wuppertal
