Hand Tool Symposium

On June 14, 2022, the FWI (professional association of the tool industry) held a Hand Tool Symposium at the Berger Gruppe premises. The latest developments in the manufacture of hand and garden tools were presented in seven specialist lectures.

The first post-pandemic symposium at the Berger Gruppe's premises was well attended, with around 40 participants on site and just under 10 online. The visitors were welcomed by Stefan Horst, managing director of the Fachverband Werkzeugindustrie e. V. (professional association of the tool industry), and the managing directors of the host company, Dr. Andreas Groß and Marco Chiesura.

The symposium dealt with the various work processes involved in the manufacture of hand tools - from forging to plastic injection molding.

In expert presentations, not only core areas such as various grinding processes were examined in more detail, but also related topics such as the substitution of chromium (VI) and prospects for additive manufacturing.

In addition to the technical presentations, a highlight of the symposium was the tour of the company, during which various robot cells and CNC-controlled grinding machines were presented - both on site and virtually.
