Sharp edges and burrs can lead to material fatigue and cracks due to vibrations. To ensure the highest safety standards, maximum performance and durability, workpieces for the aerospace industry, such as turbine blades, must be deburred, ground and polished. Precise grinding and polishing prevent flow losses and optimise the turbine’s efficiency.
Due to strict specifications and, in some cases, high material costs, these tasks are usually carried out automatically. The Berger Gruppe offers solutions for high-precision robotic deburring, grinding and polishing of workpieces for the aerospace industry. The focus is on partly standardised robotic cells with different design approaches.
Depending on the nature of the workpiece, the robotic cell is equipped with different processing stations. In this process, either the workpiece or the tool is guided by the robot.
The Berger Gruppe will be presenting the latest developments in the field of grinding technology and automation for the aerospace industry at the Farnborough International Airshow.
