On March 2nd 2017 the association of the tool manufacturing industry (FWI) organized a symposium about the production of mechanical knives. Just like last year the symposium took place in the factory of the Berger Gruppe in Wuppertal (Germany).
The symposium dealt with the different operating processes for the production of mechanical knives. It was divided into four special topics such as raw material, production, grinding processes and quality assurance.
14 speeches informed about different aspects of the production of mechanical knives - from laser application in production technique and robotic grinding processes up to value stream mapping.
With 80 guests the event was fully booked. One highlight of the symposium was clearly the live presentation the optical three-dimensional measuring technique of the company NanoFocus AG as well as the demonstration of CNC and robot controlled grinding machines of the Berger Gruppe.
