On April 13th 2016 the association of the tool manufacturing industry (FWI) organized a symposium concerning the fabrication of machine knives. This time the symposium took place in the factory of the Berger Gruppe in Wuppertal (Germany).

The symposium dealt with the different operating processes for the production of machine knives. Special topics were materials science and pretreatment, the different grinding processes as well as the follow-up treatment of workpieces.

12 speeches informed about different aspects of the production of machine knives - from heat treatment, innovative grinding techniques and current trends of abrasives up to measuring technique for quality management of machine knives.

With 65 guests the event was fully booked. One highlight of the symposium was clearly the presentation of the newest Berger grinding machines.
