The Berger Gruppe has developed a new robot grinding and polishing system for large hoppers and large-surface-area containers with a diameter of up to 2 m.
Tasks that were previously performed manually by people in unhealthy environments and under great physical strain can now be completed quickly and precisely with the new robot grinding and polishing system.

The newly developed grinding belt change system allows for the use of different grinding belt grades and grit sizes. In addition, an HSK tool-changing system allows for the use of additional grinding tools from a tool magazine, enabling the nearly complete machining of large-surface containers and large hoppers of various shapes using different tools.

For tool compensation, a laser measurement system and a force-torque sensor were integrated into the robot arm to enable force- and torque-controlled grinding and polishing of the outer and inner surfaces of the containers.
