1920 | August Nell Jr., foreman in one of the largest machine factories in Solingen, laid the foundation stone for today’s August Nell Jr. GmbH in 1920.

In the early years, machines were overhauled and also improved according to customer requirements.

1922 | The first Nell grinding and polishing machine for razor blades is delivered. The range of machines is continually expanded and there are now more than 500 Nell machines in use worldwide.

1960 | Nell has been assembling grinding and polishing machines from a well thought-out modular system since 1960. This means that even complex customer requirements can be realized quickly and at a competitive price on the basis of standard components.

Another advantage of the Nell modular system is that machines can also be added to at a later date. Over the years, an entry-level model can become a modern, fully automatic machine.

2004 | In November 2004 Nell is integrated into the Berger Gruppe in Wuppertal. The combination of know-how in design and mechanical engineering makes us a competent partner for the blade industry.

Today | State-of-the-art CNC-controlled grinding and polishing machines leave the Berger Gruppe’s production facility.
