The workpieces are fed in via conveyor belts and removed again after processing. A camera measuring system integrated into the system measures the position of the workpieces and transfers the data to the processing robot. This grips the workpiece and feeds it to the processing station.

Serrated grinding on machine knives

The CNC-controlled peripheral grinding machine from the WS4 series achieves serrated grinding on workpieces such as machine knives. It works with up to three axes.

The brushing station removes the protruding burr from the workpiece. If necessary, the burr must be removed from the workpiece to ensure further production processes, such as measuring the workpiece width.

Cleaning machine knives

A cleaning and drying station can be integrated into the system for cleaning/drying the workpieces. The workpiece is positioned in the transport chain. Cleaning and drying take place in different stages.

Alternatively, the workpiece can also be deposited in one position by the loading/unloading robot. In this case, the workpiece is cleaned and dried and then stacked in a sliding magazine.

Quality control by weighing

Quality control by weighing

The workpiece is weighed after the grinding process (surface/bevel grinding) and before the serrating process to check the quality of the grinding.
All workpieces must have the same weight to avoid imbalance in the chipper.

Further examples of quality control:

  • 3D measuring with touch probe
  • 3D surveying with camera
  • Compensation of workpiece tolerances through camera measuring system
  • Camera measuring system with graphical interface for part measurement

Magazine for machine knives

The workpieces are removed from a stacking magazine for processing and can be deposited in another magazine after processing if required.

The design of the loading and unloading magazines depends on the requirements for magazine capacity, the shape of the workpieces and other parameters, such as

  • Required magazine capacity (e.g. one hour or a complete shift)
  • Shape of the workpieces (forged, conical or flat material)
  • Variety of workpiece shapes/dimensions to be covered
