On June 14, 2022, the FWI hosted the Hand Tool Symposium at the Berger Gruppe’s premises. The latest developments in the manufacture of hand and garden tools were presented in seven specialist presentations.
The first symposium at the Berger Gruppe’s premises after the pandemic was well attended with around 40 participants on site and almost 10 online participants.
The visitors were welcomed by Stefan Horst, Managing Director of Fachverband Werkzeugindustrie e. V., and the managing directors of the host company, Dr. Andreas Groß and Marco Chiesura.
The symposium dealt with the various work processes involved in the manufacture of hand tools – from forging to plastic injection molding.
In expert presentations, not only core areas such as various grinding processes, but also related topics such as the substitution of chromium (VI) and prospects for additive manufacturing were examined in more detail.
In addition to the technical presentations, a highlight of the symposium was the tour of the company, during which various robot cells and CNC-controlled grinding machines were presented – both on site and virtually.
