Almost 50 Deutsche Börse scholarship holders visited the Berger Gruppe in Wuppertal to learn more about the “Flood Warning System 4.0”.
On April 26, the Berger Gruppe invited scholarship holders from the University of Wuppertal to a lecture on the “Flood Warning System 4.0”.
Andreas Groß, Managing Director of the Berger Gruppe, gave an entertaining presentation on the project he initiated. Together with the Wupper Association, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Bergisch Land city triangle and the IZMD, the Berger Gruppe has developed an early warning system in which the water level of the Wupper is measured using ultrasonic sensors, discharge and precipitation and local water levels can be calculated several hours in advance using complex software.
This is where Industry 4.0 technology comes into play, which the company from Kohlfurth has been using for years in the field of robotics.
After the presentation, the students had the opportunity to see a robot cell for grinding machine knives in operation on site and to exchange ideas with the management over a barbecue.
After two years of the pandemic, Annika Grübler, Head of the Deutschlandstipendium at the University of Wuppertal, was delighted that the event could take place as a face-to-face event and was a great success with 50 participants on site and 20 students connected online.
