Since 1st of November 2018, the project "Resource efficient production of shape-ground metallic products with subsequent up-cycling of process waste (EffProSchliffUp)" is funded by means of the European aid for regional development (EFRE) for the term of three years.
The aim of the project executed by the German companies TKM GmbH, Knoll Maschinenbau GmbH and Heinz Berger Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG, is to improve significantly the energy and resource productivity in the production of shape-ground metal products (using the example of rotary knives) by developing a preparation and recycling process.
The project is meant to contribute to the closing of the energy and the material cycle.
The innovative technical approach aim at cleaning and drying of grinding waste, which arises during production processes, as well as the subsequent separation of metallic and ceramic parts.
The innovative part of this approach consists in developing and optimizing the process in such a way that on the one hand the metallic parts are sorted correctly in order to be processed again to tool steel and on the other hand to use the recycled abrasive particles as new grinding wheel material.
In this way, material and energy flows will be locked within the company or cross-company. The amount of industrial waste will be reduced and the resource productivity will be increased significantly.
